Three Card Poker rules explained

Three Card Poker is another exciting variant of the well known Poker game. Just like Tequila Poker, Three Card Poker includes two different Poker game variants. First there is the game called Pair Plus, second there is Ante. Each Three Card Poker variant has its own rules. We explain all Three Card Poker rules on this page. Read further and learn all about the rules of the exciting game of Three Card Poker.

Getting started

Three Card Poker starts with placing a bet on the Three Card Poker Table. Before the cards are dealt, bets have to be placed on the Three Card Poker table. This is the moment when the player decides according to which rules he will play. The player can choose between the Pair Plus and the Ante game.

Pair Plus

The Pair Plus bet wagers on the quality of the player's hand. According to the rules the Pair Plus bet is won when the player's hand is a pair or better. The Pair Plus bet only depends on the three player cards. The dealer's cards don't join the game. See the table below for Pair Plus pay out.

Hand value Pay out
A Pair 1 to 1
Flush 4 to 1
Straight 6 to 1
Three of a kind 30 to 1
Straight Flush 40 to 1

Ante

At Three Card Poker, the Ante bet is a bet that will be won when the player's hand beats the dealer's hand. The dealer will deal three cards to the players and himself. The players check their cards. After checking their cards the players have the following two options:

Fold
Loosing the Ante bet

Play
Double the Ante bet and continue the game

When the player folds the game is over, when the player decides to continue the game the dealer turns over his cards. The dealer can only qualify with a queen or higher. When the dealer hasn't got a queen high or better the ante bet is rewarded with even money. The play bet is pushed. When the dealer does have a queen high or better the following three situations can arise.

  • Equal hands, both bets are pushed.
  • Dealer's hand beats player's hand, both bets are lost
  • Player's hand beats dealer's hand, both bets are won and will pay even money

The rules of Three Card Poker tell us that strong player hands are rewarded with attractive bonuses. See the table below for the extra bonus pay out.

Straight Flush 5 to 1
