Pai gow poker rules
Pai Gow Poker is a challenging card game. It is played with a regular card deck of 52 cards and a bug so that a total of 53-cards is reached. Pai Gow Poker arrived in Nevada during the 80's. The game is also known as Asian Poker and Double Hand Poker. In Asia this is a very popular game.
Just as with Caribbean Stud Poker, Pai Gow Poker uses poker hands. There is one major exception though, the bug can be used to create a straight, flush or straight flush. Players should know the regular poker game before playing Pai Gow Poker.
First of all, the player has to place his bet on the table. After placing the bet, the player will receive 7 cards. He has to create two hands, a 5-card hand and a 2-card hand. The 2-card hand is not allowed to be higher than the 5-card hand. If it is higher, both hands are 'false' and both hands lose.
The 5-card hand will be played as in poker with the exception that A-2-3-4-5 is the 2nd highest straight. The 2-card hand is a pair of 2 individual cards. Double aces are ranked best, the 2 and the 3 are ranked lowest.
After arranging both hands, the dealer will suit his cards on the way we call 'the casinoway'. After that the player and dealer hands will be compared. The highest hand will win. A tie means that the money goes to the bank. A win on both hands will pay even money, minus 5% commission. One win and one loss means 'tie'. When a player loses both hands he will lose his total wager.
The bug can only be used to create a straight, flush or straight flush. In all other situations the bug is an ace.
