Online and land-based poker is very popular in the Czech Republic, according to a report in the Prague Daily Monitor. It shows that poker venues have flourished and the number of poker players have increased to approximately 200.000. Big prices make poker a very interesting game for new players.
European Poker Tour
The poker boom in the Czech Republic was boosted by the Czech Jan Skampa. He won the European Poker Tour that took place in Prague in December 2009. The 23-year-old student of economics took home €682.000.
