Gambling as a platform for environmental campaigning

Students in Singapore are using the popularity of gambling for environmental campaigning. The students from the National University of Singapore create casino-themed campaigns, like fruit machine jackpots and roulette. With these casino-themed campaigns, the students try to gain attention for climate change.

Climate casino

The students devised an interactive exposition called ‘climate casino’. Students Against the Violation of the Earth (SAVE) organized the green festival. The climate Singapore casino exhibition formed part of this event.

Environmental campaigning

Players need to collect positive messages to win in the roulette part of the campaign. The reels of the fruit machine feature four representative countries and their efforts to conserve the environment.

Gambling as a platform

The students try to demonstrate the negative effects of lifestyles that damage the environment, according to one of the initiators. “We invented the climate casino exposition to combine gambling and nature. Players gamble with their future,” he stated.
