Sahara Hotel & Casino shut down rooms, low demand

This winter season, the Sahara Hotel and Casino, located on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, shuts down hotel rooms as a result of weak demand. SBE Entertainment owns the Las Vegas Strip property that consists of 1.720 guestrooms, suites and a casino.

The rooms in two of its towers will remain closed until demand recovers, according to the hotel. However, the Tangiers tower and casino remain operational and reservations can still be made, Sahara’s spokeswoman Verena King commented. It remains unclear if employees will have to be dismissed, she added.

Las Vegas Binion

The news follows the previous announcement by Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel, located in downtown Las Vegas, that it sacked 100 staff members and mothballed 365 guest rooms in order to cut costs, while its casino remains operational.
