Cashier pockets over 50K lotto cash

A gas station cashier from West Palm Beach has been charged with the crime of pocketing Lotto cash worth $50,000. Authorities say that they do have to hand it to Dale Daniel to come up with a surefire plan to win the lottery. This, however, did not land him on the Big Easy. Rather, this gets him straight into jail.

Dale Daniel’s Modus Operandi

Reporters on the case did research on Daniel’s modus operandi and determined that Daniel had been running his scheme for three years now. Working as a cashier at a service station located in the suburban portion of West Palm Beach, Daniel would cash $5 tickets, as they were bought by customers. However, he would ring those $5 tickets as $25 ones – the difference he would then pocket. After doing inventory on sales and stocks, reporters were also able to determine that Daniel stole lottery tickets as well. The winning lottery tickets he then cashed at stores nearby. His ‘earnings’ so far have amounted to $51,000 and the figure is still bound to rise. The Reaction of Daniel’s Boss to the Crime He Committed The owner of the service station, who refuses to disclose her real name, says that Daniel’s crime is devastating to her business, her family’s personal life, her personal credit, and just about everything else. The service station owner says they have had to pay all the money that Daniel was able to steal from them during those three years and $51,000 is not an easy amount to come up with.

The Report of Palm Beach County Sherriff

With the initial investigation underway, the sheriff tells detectives on the case that Daniel primarily stole the money because he was a little short on cash. However, he saw that his crime was left undiscovered so he continued stealing money from the service station. When asked what he did with over $51,000 in ‘earnings’, Daniel could not give a straight answer. The sheriff’s report indicates that Daniel just said that he just “frittered” all that cash away. As of press time, Daniel has been charged with the crime of larceny between $20,000 and $100,000, as well as fraud amounting to over $50,000. Bail has been pegged at $8,000.
